The Irish Air Corps’ Airbus C-295MPA aircraft is to be equipped with SitaWare Headquarters and Frontline, enhancing surveillance of Ireland’s 437,500 km² Exclusive Economic Zone.
SitaWare integrates data from maritime radars, AIS, and ADS-B, delivering near real-time situational awareness via VHF, HF, or satellite communications, costing over €6m in additional licences.
The system provides a correlated operational picture, enabling commanders to monitor maritime activities accurately, unlike satellite systems prone to spoofing.
Three Pilatus PC-12NG aircraft, configured as SPECTRE platforms, also use SitaWare for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance, supporting ground and naval operations.
SitaWare’s open architecture supports integration with various sensors and communication systems, enhancing Ireland’s defence capabilities across coalition and civilian operations.
Brian Matthews shared, “Using SitaWare allows us to have a comprehensive recognised maritime picture, and then distribute our assets accordingly.”
Eva Balfe shared, “The ability to collect and share near real-time data with our colleagues in the Naval Service and DF Operations is transformative in how we operate.”
Paul Shorte shared, “The redundancy levels that SitaWare’s communication protocols provide allow users to have confidence in their communications systems.”
