Two new cultural and heritage audio installations with Irish Sign Language (ISL) interpretation have been launched at Barnagh Viewing Point and Tullig Wood along the Limerick Greenway, enhancing accessibility for visitors.
The installations feature dial-up audio boxes that play traditional music and provide information about local heritage and biodiversity, contributing to an engaging visitor experience in the scenic West Limerick countryside.
An interactive ISL element is integrated into the installations, allowing deaf and hard of hearing visitors to access interpretation videos of the content via a QR code, signed by local advocate Mary Kiely.
Collaboration from organisations like Chime and the Mid-West ISL Hub has increased accessibility and inclusion in sharing Limerick’s historyensuring the installations cater to the needs of the Deaf community.
