ITA Airways plans to join Star Alliance in the first half of 2026 after Lufthansa Group acquired a 41pc stake in the airline last month.
ITA Airways is currently withdrawing from SkyTeam, with the exit phase concluding by April 30, 2025, while also expanding its link with Lufthansa Group as it prepares for the transition.
Starting March 30, 2025, ITA Airways passengers will have access to approximately 130 Lufthansa Group and partner lounges, alongside co-location at Frankfurt’s Terminal 1 and Munich’s Terminal 2.
The collaboration will also introduce codeshares on around 100 routes and improved flight schedules between ITA’s hubs in Rome and Milan and Lufthansa’s network in Frankfurt, Munich, Zurich, Vienna, and Brussels.
