JetBlue Airways has reached an agreement with Airbus and other business partners to defer USD2.5bn of aircraft capital expenditure, leading to a slowdown in aircraft deliveries. The airline plans to receive an average of 24 aircraft per year over the next five years.

JetBlue is prioritizing its A220-300 deliveries, which will replace its ERJ 190-100AR fleet. The airline has a total of 76 A220-300s on order.

The agreement supports JetBlue’s goal of achieving positive free cash flow and focuses on the margin-accretive A220 and fleet monetisation program as it phases out the E190 aircraft from its fleet.
