Meyer Turku has celebrated the keel laying of the fourth cruise ship in Royal Caribbean’s Icon class during a ceremony held on September 8, 2025, marking the start of construction.
The LNG-powered vessel is scheduled for delivery in 2027, following the debut of the Legend of the Seas in 2026.
Casimir Lindholm, CEO of Meyer Turku, shared that this ship is crucial for the shipyard and its partner network, projecting that each luxury cruise ship construction creates approximately 13,000 person-years of employment.
The keel laying event included a tradition where representatives placed coins under the first steel block for good luck and protection.
Meyer Turku has already delivered the Icon of the Seas in November 2023 and expects to complete the Legend of the Seas by summer 2026, with potential options for fifth and sixth vessels in the series.
Casimir Lindholm, CEO of Meyer Turku, shared, “Icon 4 is a very significant ship for both the shipyard and the entire partner network.”
