The Irish Whiskey Association launched the Irish Whiskey Way on 28 November at Kilbeggan Distillery Experience in Co Westmeath.
The interactive website allowed visitors to build personalised food and drink trails across the island using leading distillery experiences. The platform included food-pairing guides created with Irish chefs and cocktail recipes. Over one million visitors toured Irish whiskey distilleries in the twelve months to June 2025.
Dublin Airport increased the hand-luggage liquid limit to two litres in September, enabling travellers to carry whiskey bottles onboard.
Peter Burke shared: “I am delighted to launch the Irish Whiskey Way, a unique initiative that celebrates one of Ireland’s most iconic exports while showcasing the rich culture, heritage and hospitality that makes our country and this region so special.”
Eoin Ó Catháin shared: “The Irish Whiskey Way is a celebration of our island’s rich distilling heritage, but also an initiative developed by our whiskey distilleries working together to present a unique food and drink trail to the international and domestic visitor.”
Michael Clancy shared: “the new relaxed rules mean travellers are now happy to purchase Irish Whiskey products as they can comfortably travel with the bottle in their hand luggage.”
