Kildare County Council has published Master Plans for Ardclough and Leixlip, funded by the Department of Rural and Community Development under the 2019 Town and Village Renewal Schemes.
The Ardclough Rural Settlement Renewal Master Plan aims to enhance the area’s attractiveness, sustainability, environment, and amenities, with a focus on promoting tourism, culture, and heritage to strengthen the area’s identity.
Five key local opportunities have been identified in the Ardclough plan, including enhancing green spaces, improving pedestrian amenities, creating a more legible streetscape, enhancing Village Green facilities, and improving pedestrian safety around Henry Bridge.
The Leixlip Town Renewal Master Plan includes delivery projects such as enhancing Main Street and key spaces, adaptive reuse of the Wonderful Barn for tourism, heritage trail and play interventions along the river-walk, and cycle infrastructure improvements to connect key sites in Leixlip. These plans aim to enhance existing spaces and assets across Leixlip for the benefit of residents, businesses, and visitors.
