The Department of Transport has approved the appointment of a design consultant for the N25 upgrade scheme, which will create a relief road connecting Midleton and Youghal in east Cork.

This relief road is expected to alleviate congestion and improve road safety on a known problematic section of the N25, particularly in the areas of Killeagh and Castlemartyr.

In addition to the relief road, plans for a new line footpath in Youghal have also been discussed, with initial funding of €150,000 allocated for the project and more funds expected to be allocated throughout the year.
