KLM is to end night time passenger flights at Amsterdam from the end of March to meet government measures designed to reduce noise pollution.

Flights will not depart or land at Schiphol between midnight and 6 a.m., affecting intercontinental flights mostly.

The updated timetable shows adjusted schedules for flights from Lagos, Accra, Atlanta, and Paramaribo.

Transavia and cargo flights will still operate during the overnight period, and Schiphol aims to reduce overnight flights to a total of 10,000pa.

Dutch Infrastructure Minister Mark Harbers said last September that the government wants annual overnight flight movements reduced from 32,000 to 28,700 from November, part of a plan to reduce the number of annual permitted flights from 500,000 to 452,500.
