Ireland West Airport is the latest to get the new advanced security screening system which will eliminate the need for passengers to remove laptops and liquids from their cabin bags during security checks.

The installation process is expected to be completed in the next few weeks, with the new machines becoming fully operational by the end of November, just in time for the busy Christmas period.

The new C3 technology will replace traditional baggage X-ray machines with 3D scans, providing instant imaging of bag contents to security staff and further reducing queue times.

Iems such as liquids, gels, aerosols, creams, pastes, baby food, medicines, and special dietary products can now remain packed in cabin bags, eliminating the requirement for them to be placed in clear sealed plastic bags and presented separately.

During this time, the airport management apologises to customers for any inconvenience caused by the ongoing works and advises passengers traveling from the airport to allow extra time for the security process over the next few weeks.

The security scanners are already in use at Donegal, Knock and Shannon airports and installation wil be completed in Dublin T2 by year end.
