Korean Air is set to acquire a total of thirty-three Airbus A350 aircraft, including twenty-seven A350-1000s and six A350-900s, as part of its fleet modernisation and streamlining efforts.

The gradual investment in the A350 family will take place from March 2024 to December 2031 to enhance competitiveness on medium-to-long haul routes and replace ageing aircraft, aligning with its long-term aircraft plan.

The additional aircraft types planned for acquisition by Korean Air include fifty A321-200neos, ten B787-9s, twenty B787-10s, and thirty B787-8s, as the airline aims to modernise and diversify its fleet ahead of a planned merger with Asiana Airlines.

The merger between Korean Air and Asiana Airlines is pending US consent, with both carriers operating A320s, A330s, A350s, B747s, B767s, B777s, and B787s in their current fleets.
