Lahinch Golf Club in Clare has commenced a €6m refurbishment of its clubhouse, marking a significant upgrade to accommodate the needs of its members and visitors, with a completion target set for April 2026 ahead of hosting the prestigious Walker Cup.

The project includes two phases: an initial focus on external works and the main entrance, followed by a comprehensive renovation of internal spaces, including the bar, dining areas, and locker rooms, all designed to reflect the club’s status as a top golfing destination.

The design, led by MCA Architects, aims to create a modern clubhouse that harmonizes with the natural surroundings of the west of Ireland, offering enhanced visitor experiences and showcasing the club’s rich history through memorabilia displays.

Club chairman John Gleeson shared that the existing clubhouse, which has been in use for 60 years, has reached the end of its useful life, prompting the decision to expand and reimagine the facility instead of simply repairing the old structure:“We are absolutely confident that it will be ready for May 2026, well before the Walker Cup that September.”
