Boeing has removed the final B737-8 from long-term storage at Moses Lake as of August 12, 2025.
All stored B737 MAX aircraft since 2019 are now reactivated for delivery, with the total number involved near 500. The B737 MAX line was grounded globally from March 2019 until November 2020 due to safety incidents and COVID-19 impacts.
Air China is planning to add eight B737s in the second half of 2025 and aims for a total of 12 in 2027, as it operates a diverse fleet of B737 models.
Boeing reported unfulfilled orders of 4,856 B737 MAX family aircraft, with only 243 units delivered thus far in 2025.
Brian West shared, “We now expect to complete the rework on these airplanes and shut down the shadow factory in the third quarter.”
