LATAM Airlines has launched a direct service from London Heathrow to Lima, providing the only direct route from London to Peru. The inaugural flight took place on December 2nd, with LATAM replacing the previously cancelled British Airways route from Gatwick to Lima. They now offer daily flights between Heathrow and Sao Paulo as well.

The new route operates five times a week, departing from Heathrow at 2200 and landing in Lima at 0605. The return leg departs Lima at 2100 and arrives in London at 1400 the following day. The service is operated by a Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft with 30 Premium Business seats and 217 seats in economy.

LATAM celebrated the inaugural flight with a musical band, plane-shaped biscuits, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The launch of this route holds significance as it coincides with the 200th year of bilateral relations between Peru and London.

While there are currently no plans to increase the service to a daily frequency, LATAM’s regional commercial director mentioned that they are considering it for the future. LATAM also revealed their plans to open new routes within South America and to the US in partnership with Delta. Additionally, they will launch a new route from Madrid to Bogota starting July 2024. As of now, LATAM flies to 144 destinations in 24 countries and offers over 60 weekly frequencies from Europe.
