Airspace closures April 13 2024

Lebanon, Iraq, Jordan, and Israel have reopened their airspaces following an Iranian drone attack on Israel in retaliation for an Israeli airstrike that killed Iranian officials in Syria.

Israel closed its airspace temporarily due to military activity but reopened for commercial flights.

Jordan closed its airspace for three hours citing operational reasons and rising geopolitical tensions in the region.

Iraq initially closed its airspace due to operational reasons but reopened after the risks had passed. Iran has banned visual flight rules operations in its airspace until April 24, 2024, with the exception of military, emergency, and other pre-approved flights.

EASA said it is monitoring the situation. EASA updates here: “The European Commission and EASA will continue to closely monitor the situation to assess any potential safety risks for EU aircraft operators and be ready to act as appropriate.”
