LISTEN: Eoghan Corry discusses airport closures in the Middle East

Eoghan Corry told listeners to Today FM: “What is going to be import interesting over the next few days is watching what the UAE and Qatar do to defend their reputation as a major international aviation hub. They know how important it is for the economic development in the area, how people trust them. They will want to do everything to try and get that reputation back up and running and defend it.

Air will always err on the side of safety. We saw that even that somebody sees a drone in Dublin airport or somewhere in the vicinity the sir space and the airport closes down. Airspace will shut down if there’s even the slightest chance of a drone incursion. The problem is that the Iranians know that as well. It is going to be very easy to inflict a lot of damage on the reputation of countries they see as allies of the United States.”
