Wicklow County Council members have joined lobby groups in criticisomg emerging plans for a greenway linking Greystones to Wicklow town.

Consultants identified three route corridors including coastal field boundary and regional road options. The Emerging Preferred Route spans approximately 24.8 kilometres with 83pc as off-road shared path. The route combines coastal and inland sections to balance scenic value and environmental sensitivity. Public display events will be on show on 20 January in Greystones Library and 22 January in Wicklow Library.

Shane Langrell shared “I am not against a greenway. I am for a greenway but not this one. I’m a farmer worked with my dad on the farm and I get what these landowners are thinking. There’s anxiety. They’re up the walls.”
