Loveholidays has revealed a 146pc surge in long haul beach bookings for Christmas and New Year.

The analysis covered departures from 20 December 2025 to 4 January 2026. Florida, Dubai, Quintana Roo, and Phuket were the top four destinations.

Holidaymakers traded traditional celebrations for warmer climates and international festivities. Clem Walshe noted a preference for flip flops over formality during the festive season.

Clem Walshe, Commercial Director (Ireland) for loveholidays shared, “As we approach the end of the year, we’re seeing a huge change in how people plan on spending Christmas and New Year, as more Irish holidaymakers opt for flip flops over formality this festive season.”

Clem Walshe shared, “Recent booking trends show a readiness to travel further to truly escape this Christmas, with long haul destinations such as Florida favourable for alternative celebrations.”
