
Longford Tourism have unveiled their new five-year strategy developing a connected sustainable tourism destination,” emphasising sustainable tourism as its core principle and blueprint for County Longford’s tourism development up to 2027.
The strategy focuses on catering to visitors’ needs, engaging tourism stakeholders, supporting local communities, and prioritizsing environmental considerations. It outlines Longford’s key tourism assets, aligns with Ireland’s Hidden Heartlands vision, and addresses the county’s strengths, opportunities, and challenges based on comprehensive consultation processes.
The strategy aims to promote County Longford as a preferred tourism destination, with ongoing efforts to showcase the county at national and international levels. County Longford participated in events like the Holiday World Show in Dublin to engage with target audiences, highlighting the county’s tourism offerings.
Following the strategy launch, Longford County Council’s Cathaoirleach Cllr Colm Murray and Chief Executive Paddy Mahon expressed optimism and commitment to developing Longford as a sustainable and connected tourism destination, leveraging available funding opportunities and collaborating with tourism operators and entrepreneurs to enhance the county’s tourism sector.
