The operators of the Luas have confirmed that the George’s Dock Bridge, damaged by fire, will have to be demolished due to fire damage, putting the Luas out of action for at least four months.

Luas Red Line services between Connolly Station and The Point stop are suspended until the end of November. A replacement bus service, wheelchair accessible and running every 10 minutes, has been introduced.

Passengers can use valid Luas tickets and TFI Leap cards for the replacement bus service. Updates on the bridge replacement will be shared via the official Luas website and social media.

The replacement bus service will stop at:

  • George’s Dock Luas Stop – beside Hilton Garden Inn
  • Mayor Square – NCI Luas Stop – beside The Convention Centre
  • Spencer Dock Luas Stop – beside The Mayson Hotel
  • The Point Luas Stop – beside The Point / 3Arena.
  • Buses every 10 minutes during normal Luas operating hours

Transdev shared in a written statement: “Following an assessment of the George’s Dock Bridge, which was recently damaged in a fire, the bridge has been found to be structurally compromised. A programme for a replacement bridge has been developed. This programme shows completion of works at the end of November this year, and Luas Red Line services will remain suspended between Connolly and The Point until that time. We thank all passengers for their patience and cooperation during this period.”
