Malaysia Aviation Group has ordered 18 B737-8s and 12 B737-10s to complete fleet renewal by 2030.

The order, placed in January 2025, was initially reported as from an undisclosed customer.

The B737-8 and B737-10 were chosen to align with long-term growth strategy, focusing on fuel efficiency and passenger comfort.

Malaysia Airlines expects all new aircraft to enter service by 2030 to prevent future capacity shortages.

Additional B737-8s from Air Lease Corporation will replace the older B737-800 fleet, currently averaging 12.3 years in age.
