Protest group Menys Turisme Més Vida has announced a large protest against mass tourism in Mallorca scheduled for June 15, supported by 60 organisations.
Last summer, around 10,000 people participated in a similar protest in Palma de Mallorca, addressing issues such as skyrocketing housing prices due to tourism.
The campaign group is advocating for limits on tourism to protect local resources and address the marginalisation of residents caused by the influx of tourists.
Protestors are set to gather in Plaça Espanya at 6pm and will represent various anti-tourism groups, trade unions, and environmental organisations.
Menys Turisme Més Vida shared: “Mallorca is not against tourism, but it cannot be a theme park open 24 hours a day. We want to share all that, but without meaning that we stop being who we are. We are taking to the streets again to say enough is enough, and we will do it as many times as necessary.”
