A meeting takes place this evening at Carrowbeg in Westport to consider plans for a new Great Western Greenway link.

The project aims to strengthen Westport’s position as a key tourism centre along the Wild Atlantic Way and enhance attractions such as Westport House Demesne. Proposed developments include realigning the road to create wider footpaths, cycle lanes, and improved safety measures.

New raised pedestrian crossings and upgraded public lighting will facilitate better visibility and safety for both pedestrians and cyclists.

The project is supposed to align with the Mayo County Development Plan 2022-2028, supporting sustainable tourism and improved infrastructure.
