Meliá Hotels International has recorded its best summer ever for revenues. Third-quarter consolidated revenue grew by 7.7pc year-on-year to €659.6m. Net profit reached €89.4m, beating average analyst forecasts of €80.3m, and reversed a €7.5m net loss recorded during the first half of the year. EBITDA rose 4pc year-on-year to €198.3m while RevPAR saw an underlying increase of 7.5pc at constant currency.

The summer performance cushioned the blow of Meliá’s total withdrawal from its 34 managed hotels in Cuba. The group completed its exit between June and July 2026 due to hardening US sanctions and worsening local economic instability. The operational pivot required a €79.8m one-off accounting charge, causing the group’s cumulative nine-month profit through September to drop by 47.4pc.

Favourable tourism trends in Spanish coastal regions and destinations like the Balearic Islands and Andalusia led the revenue surge. Growth was bolstered by an increase in direct sales channels, including the Meliá App and direct web sales. Meliá maintained an optimistic outlook for the remainder of 2026, pointing to double-digit growth in direct on-the-books reservations. Management issued a minor warning that the late-October train crash and ongoing rail suspension on the Madrid-Seville line could slightly dampen demand for southern Spanish urban locations in the fourth quarter.
