Minister Ryan says he will challenge Ryanair to reveal its plans to become a net-zero carbon emissions company by 2050 and is willing to work together to achieve this goal.
Transport minister Eamon Ryan has said he is now willing to meet Michael O’Leary regarding environmental issues and aviation sustainability. A meeting proposed for today, the first after four years of Mir Ryan’s tenure as transport minister, has to be postponed because Mr O’Leary is unavailable but is expected to take place in the coming weeks.
Ryanair has stated its commitment to sustainability and has outlined plans to reduce its emissions. Green party members still express skepticism and criticism from Mr. Ryan towards Mr. O’Leary, particularly regarding a cap on airline traffic into Dublin.
Recently Mr Ryan he says: “I do want to set out some of the issues, but not specifically on the cap as I do have to be careful as Transport Minister. That will be decided by Fingal County Council, first of all, and by An Bord Pleanála, and I think it’s absolutely right that my colleagues, our local councillors, Green Party politicians and others have raised some of the concerns they have.”
