The Michelin Guide has selected standout new hotel openings nominated for the Opening of the Year award, with the winner to be announced on 18 September 2026. Among the nominees is Airelles Palladio Venice on the island of Giudecca, which reopened in 2026 after restoration of historic buildings dating back to 1561 and offers views of St Mark’s Square. Capella Kyoto in Japan, designed by architect Kengo Kuma, provides discreet luxury near the Kaburenjo theatre.
Other nominees include Villa Pétrusse in Luxembourg City, described as a miniature castle dating back to 1880 with a historic wine cellar for tastings. The Chancery Rosewood in London is located in the former US Embassy building. One&Only Moonlight Basin in Big Sky, Montana is a high-end alpine ski and spa retreat featuring open-concept cabins with private hot tubs.
