Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys, has announced over €1 million in funding to support the improvement of 517 walking trails across Ireland, benefiting 203 community groups.
Grants ranging from €1,500 to €35,000 will be provided for the upgrade, maintenance, and promotion of local trails as tourist attractions.
The initiative aims to highlight the value of rural walkways and outdoor trails, encouraging outdoor activity and tourism in local communities.
Eligible community groups include organizations from counties like Cork, Kerry, Mayo, Offaly, Tipperary, Wexford, and Wicklow, with the funds primarily supporting equipment purchase, maintenance, and marketing efforts.
