
Linhas Aéreas de Moçambique suspended its intercontinental route to Lisbon and regional flights to Harare and Lusaka, citing accumulated losses of $21.3m.
The Lisbon route, reintroduced in December 2023 after a 13-year break, had been operating at a USD21m loss, leading to delays and cancellations due to financial strain.
The airline’s subsidiary MEX reported losses of $307,000 on routes to Lusaka and Harare, with the last flights recorded on January 5 and January 12.
As part of a restructuring initiative to boost profitability, LAM plans to focus on domestic routes and improve operational efficiency while preparing to sell 91pc of its shares to public companies.
