ICAO has released a new version of NAT Doc 007, effective from March 21 2024, containing important operational guidelines for North Atlantic operations.
There will be no more Oceanic Clearances on the NAT routes, with specific dates for each Flight Information Region (FIR) detailed in the update.
The NAT Comms Failure Procedures have been streamlined to simplify operations in case of communication failure.
Another key change is the standardisation of squawking 2000 ten minutes after the Oceanic Entry Point (OEP) throughout the entire North Atlantic region, a modification that has already been implemented by January 2024.
The fabled North Atlantic Oceanic clearance will be a thing of the past.
