Norwegian Cruise Line reveals Norwegian Aura will be its largest ship

Norwegian Cruise Line has confirmed Norwegian Aura as the largest ship in its history set to enter service in late May 2027.

The vessel measured 169,000 tons with capacity for 3,840 guests at double occupancy. Norwegian Aura surpassed Breakaway Plus-class vessels which reached roughly 165,000 tons and 4,200 guests. The ship qualified as a Prima Plus-class vessel under construction at Fincantieri shipyard in Marghera Italy. Norwegian Aura offered ten percent more size than predecessors Norwegian Aqua and Norwegian Luna.

The ship set a new standard in size and scale for the fleet with curated family-focused experiences and reimagined guest favourites. Norwegian Aura provided a greater space-per-guest ratio than Breakaway Plus-class vessels. The inaugural season included a Mediterranean cruise before repositioning to PortMiami. Norwegian Aura offered seven-night Caribbean cruises from South Florida during its first season. Norwegian planned even larger ships from 2030 with a new class of 225,000-ton vessels for 5,100 passengers.
