Oireachtas Transport Committee member Jerry Buttimer has stated that the Cork-Kinsale Greenway plans need significant alterations to proceed, citing landowner concerns over CPOs.

Public consultation should genuinely involve residents affected by the proposed project. A public meeting indicated that local residents only learned of the scheme through letters, increasing frustration in the community.

Minister Buttimer noted the importance of adapting the project to garner public support and avoid creating major issues.

Jerry Buttimer shared, “Communication is critical, and I’ve been disappointed by how this process has been handled. If the project is to continue, it must be altered significantly. A good idea on paper is meaningless if, in reality, it creates major problems.”
