Outbound trips by Irish residents in January 2025 were up 18pc on 2024, from 721,200 to 854,000.
Total outbound was 12,905,400 in 2024 and 12,225,400 in 2023. A change of methodology by the CSO makes the overall figure difficult to compare with pre-pandemic levels, which may have been understate by a factor of up to two million.
