Airport passenger traffic to surpass pre-pandemic levels in 2024 and grow by 10pc

Airports Council International (ACI) World forecasts global passenger traffic will reach 9.5bn in 2024, surpassing pre-pandemic levels and reflecting a 10pc growth compared to 2023.

Major records include Heathrow’s July traffic of 7.98m passengers, and Ryanair’s August total of 20.5m passengers, both indicating robust recovery trends in air travel.

The forecast for 2024 marks a decline from pre-pandemic estimates of 10.5bn passengers, with international traffic expected to account for 43pc and domestic traffic 57pc of total passengers.
