Dublin airport operators DAA now clear to hire 200 new recruits before the summer, after existing staff voted to approve a 10.3pc pay hike and a restructuring of the payroll system.

New recruits will benefit from pay rates up to 25% higher than last summer, with 200 set to join in the coming weeks to help with the busy summer season.

Summer season traditionally begins around St Patrick’s weekend, with Easter also bringing increased airport traffic.

Higher wages are seen as crucial for attracting and retaining new staff, improving the staffing situation at DAA since 2022 when security queues caused chaos.
