A planning application has been submitted for five detached single-storey pods in Roundwood, each designed as a studio-style holiday dwelling, featuring a bedroom, kitchenette, and bathroom facilities, with timber and metallic cladding and a mono-pitch roof.

The application, led by Niall Davis, covers 2.1 hectares at Ballinastoe and includes infrastructure such as individual soak pits, a communal wastewater system, a new potable water well, a vehicular driveway with five parking bays, and landscaping improvements.

The proposed accommodation aims to enhance tourism in Co Wicklow, connecting with the nearby Ballinastoe Woods and serving visitors to the applicant’s biking business, promoting interconnectivity with local attractions.

The development is presented as visually unobtrusive, with low-profile buildings that will be largely screened by existing trees and new landscaping, while a replenishment planting scheme is proposed to compensate for vegetation loss due to storms in 2023.
