BFJ Developments, a Monaghan-based construction firm, has submitted plans to Westmeath County Council to convert a two-storey office building on Bishop’s Gate Street in Mullingar into an eight-unit self-catering tourism accommodation facility.

The proposal aims to repurpose the existing structure to support tourism in the midlands town. The application, lodged in early October 2025, is under review by the council. The project reflects growing interest in tourism infrastructure development in the region. Further details on costs and timelines remain undisclosed pending council approval.
