PLAY Airlines is to wet lease three aircraft to an undisclosed European operator until the end of 2027 as part of its 2024 financial results.
The airline’s fleet consists of ten Airbus narrowbody aircraft, with three A321-200Ns and one A321-200NX currently wet leased to GlobalX, which will shift to ACMI operations to enhance profitability.
Despite reporting a $66m loss for 2024, a substantial increase from the previous year, CEO Einar Örn Ólafsson noted improvements in the fourth quarter and expressed optimism about the airline’s financial future.
PLAY currently operates flights to 39 airports across 21 countries, focusing on implementing its new business model to boost revenue from popular and profitable routes.
