A power outage around 7:50 am on Sunday morning in Terminal 2 of Dublin Airport caused significant disruptions.

The outage led to the cancellations of flights to Zurich EI348@16.55 & inbound EI349 and Paris Charles de Gaulle EI528@18.20 & inbound EI529, to delays for 15 flights and long queues for passengers after the outage occurred.

Although power was fully restored by later afternoon, operations are still slower than usual due to the backlog of passengers needing to be processed, with DAA reporting that check-in, security screening, and boarding processes are back to normal but with delays.

The outage, attributed to an under voltage in the ESB Network, affected the airport’s backup generator system, prompting an investigation by DAA’s asset management team to prevent future occurrences.

Spokesperson for daa, Graeme McQueen, said ”there was a small backlog at T2 and that 15 flights were delayed as a result of the outage. DAA has confirmed that most flights continued as normal throughout the incident. Our asset management team are working through the cause of this outage to ensure the same failure is not repeated in future. DAA apologises to all passengers who were inconvenienced by this morning’s issues.
