Wizz Air has entered a support agreement with Pratt & Whitney to address engine issues, expecting 40 of its aircraft to remain grounded through fiscal 2026.

The partnership includes operational assistance and compensation for costs related to grounded aircraft.

Significant challenges arose from the inspection of over 1,000 engines, prompting a potential 10pc reduction in capacity for the latter half of fiscal 2024-5.

Despite these setbacks, Wizz Air plans to expand its fleet with 50 new Airbus A321NEO aircraft and aims for a 20pc increase in seat capacity by 2026.
