Qatar Airways is in talks with Airbus and Boeing for a significant widebody order comprising A350 and B777X aircraft, potentially ordering up to 200 aircraft with the announcement expected at the Farnborough Air Show in July.

Speaking on the sidelines of the IATA AGM and summit in Dubai, CEO Badr Mohammed Al Meer confirmed discussions for a three-digit order but clarified that the reported 200-aircraft number is off by around 30pc, without specifying if the actual figure is higher or lower.

Qatar Airways currently has 179 aircraft on order, including A321, A350, B737, B777, and B787 models, with a fleet of 264 in-house aircraft consisting of various Airbus and Boeing types and two wet-leased B747-400ERFs from AirACT.
