Qatar Airways is making the first steps towards what it describes as a “big order” for Boeing and Airbus.
The airline will potentially order 100 to 150 widebodies to expand and renew its fleet, with the order likely to be for models such as the Airbus A350 or Boeing 777X.
Major airlines are seeking new fuel-efficient widebody aircraft to lower operating costs and meet the increasing demand for international travel.
Qatar Airways’ CEO confirmed that the airline has submitted a proposal request for a significant aircraft order, but Airbus and Boeing have not provided comments on the discussions.
