Riyadh Air has postponed its launch plans from the first quarter of 2025 to the third quarter due to aircraft delivery delays from Boeing, expecting only four B787-9 deliveries instead of the eight planned for 2025.
CEO Tony Douglas expressed optimism about receiving deliveries this year, despite acknowledging the risks involved in the current situation with Boeing.
The airline has thirty-nine B787-9s and sixty A321-200Ns on order and aims to commence operations as soon as it receives its first B787-9, with significant components already prepared for final assembly.
Boeing delivered fifteen B787 aircraft in the fourth quarter of 2024, reflecting a production slowdown caused by supply chain issues, increased regulatory oversight, and labor strikes.
CEO Tony Douglas shared “I am confident, given the latest forecast, that we’ll get deliveries this year. Is it completely without risk? Obviously no, it’s not.”
