Roberto Martinoli will become CEO of Silversea cruise line from September 19th, in succession to Enzo Visone.
Martinoli has been a Board Member of Silversea since 2013, becomes CEO after an extensive, and successful career in the cruise and shipping industry. Prior to joining Silversea, Martinoli was the Chairman and CEO of Grandi Navi Veloci Ferry Company in the western Mediterranean. He currently retains his position of Chairman at Grandi Navi Veloci.
He was President and COO of Norwegian Cruise Line from 2009 to 2010 and advisor to Apollo Management from 2008 to 200). He served as EVP Operations at Carnival Cruise Lines from 2000 to 2008 and SVP at Costa Crociere from 1997 to 2000. He owned and operated Martinoli SAM from 1976 to 1997, a ship management and consulting company.
Martinoli holds a master’s degree in naval architecture and marine engineering from the University of Genoa and attended an Executive Advanced Program at Kellogg Northwestern University, Illinois in 2006.
He currently sits on the Boards of Directors of Confitarma, Rome and Interferry Europe, Brussels. He chairs the Short Sea Shipping Commission in Confitarma and he is a member of the association Executive Committee. He is the Chairman of ESN (European Shortsea Network)
Based in the company’s headquarters in Monaco, he will report directly to Manfredi Lefebvre d’Ovidio, Executive Chairman of Silversea Cruises.
