The Royal Caribbean Group has agreed to acquire the Port of Costa Maya in Mexico, including adjacent land in Mahahual, for approximately $292m, with the deal expected to close in the first half of 2025 pending regulatory approvals.

Following the acquisition announcement, Royal Caribbean International revealed plans to develop a new cruise destination, Perfect Day Mexico, which will feature a variety of attractions and experiences tailored to passengers.

Perfect Day Mexico will incorporate an all-new water park, pools, beaches, restaurants, and bars, adding to Royal Caribbean’s lineup of private destinations and complementing the recently announced Royal Beach Clubs in Cozumel and Nassau.

The existing infrastructure of the Costa Maya cruise port will be utilized for Perfect Day Mexico, as Royal Caribbean initially considered building a new dock but opted to use the existing pier in Quintana Roo instead.
