RTÉ has issued a tender for €840,000 over 48 months to secure suppliers for “Corporate Travel Services,” which will cover bookings for flights, ferries, trains, and accommodations mainly outside of Ireland.
The tender aims for cost-effective travel services, explicitly excluding five-star hotel stays, limousines, and business class flights, with the contract expected to be awarded by November 11.
Fine Gael General Election candidate Grace Boland emphasized the need for transparency and value for taxpayer money in RTÉ’s travel spending, questioning the rationale behind the projected figures and the standards of service included in the contract.
An RTÉ spokesperson explained that these travel services are essential for the broadcaster’s public service programming, including the coverage of key news and sporting events, and mentioned that their current provider is Club Travel.
