Nearly all war risk and all-risk insurance claims related to aircraft expropriated by Russian airlines in 2022 have been settled at the Irish High Court as of 26 March.

Major lessors like Avolon, BOC Aviation, and Nordic Aviation Capital have resolved their claims, while CDB Aviation and SMBC Aviation Capital are set to conclude proceedings shortly.

The final hearings for claims against insurer Chubb are scheduled for 11 April, despite an agreement in principle already reached regarding settlement.

Lessors initially sought over $8bn in claims from various insurers after Western sanctions prevented the return of leased aircraft to owners following the invasion of Ukraine in March 2022.

FTAI Aviation is pursuing separate claims against insurers under case H.P.2024.0003690, initiated in April 2024, with the details remaining confidential.
