Ryanair load factor plummets to 89pc in January as passenger numbers continue growth

Ryanair passenger numbers in January were 12.2m. Rolling annual was 181.2m. The airline reported 950 flights were lost to the Israel/Gaza conflict.

Load factor for January is 89pc, ahead of the industry average but low for an airline used to 95pc-96pc in summer and 91pc in winter. The airline’s last lowest load factor outside of pandemic time was 88pc in January 2016.

Growth for the month year on year was 3pc instead of the usual 8pc-9pc.

Ryanair has signed partnership agreements with online travel agencies such as Loveholiday and Kiwi over recent weeks. In December, after online travel agencies jointly dropped Ryanair from their websites, Ryanair shares dropped by 4pc .
