Ryanair is seeking legal clarification after a Barcelona court ordered the airline to refrain from using denigrating language towards eDreams, a Spanish online travel agent with which Ryanair has not reached a distribution agreement.

The airline has been critical of online travel agents, labeling them as “pirates” and accusing eDreams of overcharging its “Prime” members for flights booked with various carriers, including Wizz and Transavia.

eDreams secured an injunction in July that directed Ryanair to stop its negative statements, with the court ruling that such claims were part of a campaign to promote Ryanair’s own booking services; repeated non-compliance could lead to criminal penalties.

Ryanair claims that the court’s recent directives are vague and unclear, expressing intent to appeal and seeking guidance on how to openly communicate allegations of eDreams’ overcharges while maintaining compliance with the court’s orders.
