Ryanair have commenced their roadshow with winter routes announcements in Italy, where Ryanair asked the Italian government to increase the flight limit at Ciampino Airport from 65 to 130 flights per day and urged the government and regional authorities to abolish the municipal tax at all Italian airports, similar to the measures taken by the Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Calabria regions.
Michael O’Leary said: “Ryanair urges the Meloni government to raise the flight limit at Ciampino from 65 to 130 daily flights and enable Ryanair to quickly boost visitor numbers to Rome for the Jubilee year 2025. It is shameful that the visitor growth of one of Europe’s major cities, Rome, is currently hindered by Ciampino’s limit of 65 flights per day (only 4 flights per hour), jeopardizing Rome’s growth for the Jubilee year 2025. Ryanair calls for the daily movements at Ciampino to be doubled to 130 flights (only 8 flights per hour) to increase traffic, employment, and tourism to Rome, especially when these flights will be operated by Ryanair’s new and quieter Boeing B737-8200 Gamechanger aircraft.
