Ray O’Donoghue has been appointed as the Night Time Economy Advisor for Dublin City Council, funded by the Department of Tourism for a two-year pilot programme.

Mr O’Donoghue, director of Sea Sessions festival in Bundoran, aims to rejuvenate Dublin’s nighttime economy to bring it in line with other European capitals, working to address safety concerns and lack of transportation options.

The appointment follows a government report three years ago, with O’Donoghue leveraging his experience in music promotion to work on events and projects across the city.

DublinTown, a business lobby group, has collaborated with the Responsible Hospitality Institute to explore international trends in the nighttime economy, highlighting the need for longer opening hours and improved safety measures.
